Design 11
Design is to create, fashion, execute or construct according to plan. A designer will draw, layout, sketch, or prepare the plan so that it will satisfy a specific function or end. A good designer must be able to identify objectives of function. Look at a need, analyze the situation, examine possible solutions, then execute the best possible solution based on the criteria.
The Design Process
There are six main steps to designing something:
1: Design Brief - A clear concise statement describing the challenge.
2: Analyzing the Problem - Gathering information that looks at the limitations and constraints.
3: Thumbnail Sketches - Examining the possible solutions through simple sketches. Comparing and contrasting ideas.
4: Best Solution - Looking at all your options and deciding which is best. This sketch shows more detail in terms of layout, color, information, etc...
5: Comprehensive Design - Your best copy. It should demonstrate the principles of design i.e. proportion, emphasis, balance, variety, etc...

- This is a scale drawing project we did. We had to choose an image off the internet, and increase the size by 4. So we made a 1 cm grid over top our image, then took a blank sheet, and made a 4 cm grid. We then followed our smaller image to help fill in the larger version.
Sketch Books
- Though out the class we had to do weekly sketchbooks, each week had a different topic, and offered a different challenge. The following are some of my favorite drawings I did in my sketchbook.
